Horseback, wine and Argentinian BBQ

We had spent several weeks on high heights, altitudes reaching over 4000 m above sea level and our energy level had reached a low point as we rolled down to Argentina and Salta. Perhaps it was the new found energy or simply the fact that we were finally in Argentina but our days in Salta were an Argentinian teaser that got us craving more of this amazing country and culture. Our first day in Salta was spent exploring the town, walking thelittle streets, covered in beautiful street art and exploring the city park.

At the end of the park we reached the cable car, up the mountain we went, we stopped to enjoy the view over a glas of Argentinian wine as we waited out the rain.

As the rain continued we barhopped our way through the clouds and got back to camp just in time for our BBQ night in the rain!

The next day as we woke the rain was still pouring but in true Scandinavian spirit and the belief that "there are no bad weather only bad clothes for it" we set off to a local ranch. Good thing we did as the clouds started to part just after breakfast and so we jumped up on our horses and set off through the Argentinian country side.

My horse, Pretty Lady, was a true foodie - every chance she got she had her head in a bush, stuffing her face! But she kept up with the lead in the group and once we got in to it all we were up and running inbetween snack brakes.

With the wind in my hair, a big grin on my face, one hand on the ropes and one in the air - Argentinian style - it was hard not to love it.

Not to mention all the screams from everyone every once and awhile when the horses took charge over the not always so experienced riders. Frank the tank in particular - it got to a point where I had to ride ahead of Franky and his passenger because I was laughing so much I actually thought I might fall off my own horse! But the horses were beautiful and such characters!

Upon returning to the ranch, the family awaited us with a massive Argentinian BBQ buffe and as much of the locally produced Argentinian wine, served in unlabelled bottles that you could drink!

Salta was 2 days of Argentinian magic and I can't wait to go back to explore of this country.
